| Dec 4, 2019 | Employment Law Disputes |

Workplace equality continues to be a goal for many individuals in Florida and elsewhere, employers and employees alike. When allegations of unfair treatment arise, all parties involved may feel it is in their best interests to seek guidance on all available options to help resolve the issue in the most effective manner. Riot Games has reportedly agreed to pay a substantial settlement in relation to a lawsuit in which the company was accused of gender discrimination.

According to reports, the incident began when two female employees at Riot Games filed a lawsuit, accusing the company of discrimination in 2018. In the lawsuit, the two claimed that they had been subjected to harassment and discrimination on a routine basis. They also assert that Riot had violated the terms of the Equal Pay Act of the state involved.

Many of the details pertaining to the investigation into complaints of discrimination within the company remain unclear. However, recent reports indicate that Riot Games has recently agreed to pay out a $10 million settlement in relation to the lawsuit in California. The company asserts that it is committed to providing employees with a safe workplace environment free of unfair and unjust treatment and says it will takes steps to improve conditions for all workers.

Individuals who have been subjected to or accused of workplace discrimination may worry about how the outcome of the situation could affect their lives. When facing a similar scenario, a person in Florida could benefit from consulting with an attorney for guidance in understanding all his or her available options. An attorney can examine the situation a client is facing and work toward developing a strategy to help protect his or her legal rights and business interests.
